The Sarcasm Never Stops
This was the first song I actually wrote with the Big Red Spark album in mind, At the time, we had intended that the track open the album (which is the reason why we nearly always stuck this song as the first song in our set). However both our producer Mike Varty and our guitarist Jim suggested that we should open with The Big Red Spark Suite itself. I’m glad they did because it was a bloody good idea.
As for the song itself, I was trying to do something that Genesis, Prince and Blur are brilliant at doing i.e. starting the song on the offbeat so that the drums don’t start in the place you expect them to. It was also deliberately written without a chorus which was a bit of a piss take of so much prog out there at the moment but it worked much better than I expected. Who’s laughing now monkey boy?

One of the few Tinyfish songs I actually titled. Although the song didn’t exist when I titled it, but still... This is basically a dose of preaching to the converted about actually getting up and doing stuff. The people who really need to hear the message will probably never hear the song. Besides, as Ben Elton put it: “If you try and make people think, the only thing they're gonna think is what a patronising bastard you are!” So the sarcasm never stops throughout the whole song.
