She's All I Want

This is a song about the eternal problem that faces nearly all men at some point in their lives; how to balance the joy of being in love with a woman with the instinctive male terror that comes with the notion of long term commitment. I’ve seen great men do some heroically stupid things both to themselves and others when confronted by this emotional paradox. Pie in the face; big time.

At the time, this was the song that stuck in my head. I fantasised about it being a top twenty single. Although I knew that the chances in real life were akin to air spontaneously transforming into gold. Technically possible, but a long trek behind the decimal point.

I spend my life just hopping 'round from tree to tree
When all I needed was just sitting there in front of me
I kid myself that there's plenty more fish in the sea
Just walk around and the mountain will walk up to me

I built this prison cell to kid myself that I was free
And on the walls I wrote the story of a memory
I kid myself that there's plenty more fish in the sea
Just walk around and the mountain will walk up to -
She's all I saw - yeah
She's all I need - yeah
She's all I want

It isn't easy when one and one can soon make three
A comfy home and a cosy little family
I kid myself that there's plenty more fish in the sea
Just walk around and the mountain will walk up to -
She's all I saw - yeah
She's all I need - yeah
Don't walk away -

I kid myself that there's plenty more fish in the sea
Just walk around and the mountain will walk up to me
She's all I want
She's all I want
She's all I want
